GECA certification for cleaning products
Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) has been recognised by two separate bodies in the area of cleaning products.
Certification organisation DLCS International has audited HealtheClean’s cleaning products under GECA’s ecolabelling program - a not-for-profit, independent and multi-sector initiative which operates to improve the sustainability of consumption through certification. The products have successfully met the requirements and been recertified.
DLCS International was the second conformance assessment body (CAB) to achieve JAS-ANZ accreditation to audit GECA’s ecolabelling program. As part of GECA’s requirements, all conformance assessment bodies must be accredited by JAS-ANZ, the government-appointed body for Australia and New Zealand responsible for providing accreditation of CABs in the fields of certification and inspection.
“We are thrilled to have begun auditing against GECA’s scheme and are excited to be in partnership with an ecolabelling program that addresses the important issues of environmental, health and social impacts,” said Dennis Rozich, Executive Director of DLCS International.
Meanwhile, GECA’s own paint and cleaning products have been approved by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). This means products certified under GECA’s Cleaning Products standard will now contribute to achieving credit points to projects being certified under the GBCA’s Green Star Performance tool.
“Many of GECA’s standards are already recognised by the GBCA, helping specifiers working on Green Star projects to achieve more points,” said GECO CEO Rupert Posner. “Now the important areas of paints and coatings and cleaning products will also benefit Green Star professionals and those looking for recognition under the GBCA’s new Green Star Performance tool.”
GECA will soon apply to have the current Adhesives standard, and the Adhesives, Fillers and Sealants standard being developed, approved by the GBCA.
