Merger strengthens RSK Australia's regional services

RSK Australia businesses Projence and Western Project Services (WPS) have merged under the Projence brand, effective 1 April 2025. Both companies are part of the global RSK Group.

The businesses have combined to create what is said to become one of regional Australia’s most agile project management organisations.

RSK Australia Managing Director and WPS Director Mark Haydock said, “This is a significant and strategic step for RSK Australia. Our customers will see immediate benefit through delivery capability, sector expertise and long-term value.

“This merger will reshape the delivery of project management services in significant sectors in regional and remote areas, bringing together decades of experience and proven success in energy, water, infrastructure and the built and natural environments.

“Projence already delivers high-performance, end-to-end project management solutions and now adds the deep regional relationships and trusted delivery track record of WPS to its growing footprint. WPS has a proud history, and that legacy will now inspire the next phase under the Projence flag.”

Projence delivers comprehensive project management and advisory solutions, overseeing all facets of project execution, from developmental planning to project controls. With offices across regional New South Wales and Brisbane, it has managed projects in the energy, mining, port, rail, road and water sectors.

Its NSW projects include the Hunter Power Project for Snowy Hydro; the Wagga Wagga Special Activation Precinct; Armidale Regional Council flood recovery and road restoration works; drought resilience planning for regional councils; project governance and reporting for AGL’s Bayswater and Liddell power stations; and site-based project engineering for Hunter Valley coal clients.

WPS is an infrastructure project management consultancy that delivers project management, road safety and consulting engineering services across regional NSW and Brisbane. Its projects have spanned the road, rail and water sectors, with clients including local councils, private contractors and state government agencies.

Projence Managing Director Gavin Heydon said, “This is a transformational opportunity for both businesses. We are combining two high-performing teams with complementary strengths, realising more innovation and consistency for our customers. Our priority is always to deliver outstanding results, and this merger gives us the scale and flexibility to do just that.

“Joining under a unified brand will allow clients to benefit from enhanced reach, deeper specialist knowledge and a more responsive and efficient service model. The merger allows Projence to expand its multidisciplinary services while continuing to deliver tailored, localised support, backed up by international standards from the RSK Group, which is one of the world’s largest environmental and engineering consultancies, employing more than 15,000 people in 40 countries and six continents.”

Heydon said Projence would retain its focus on service continuity for its customers. Existing engagements are said to transition seamlessly, with the same experienced consultants and project managers onboard to deliver quality outcomes.

Heydon added that the merger also positioned Projence to pursue growth opportunities in new markets and sectors, underpinned by a stronger commercial structure and enhanced delivery capacity. While Projence will lead the newly merged business, the WPS brand will remain in use where appropriate, leveraging its legacy and standing in regional markets.
