Finalists announced for 2014 property development awards

The 2014 Property Council of Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards celebrate innovation and leading practice within Australia’s property development and investment industries.

Property Council of Australia Chief Commercial Officer Nathan Paine said the industry has this year “put forward some truly world-class projects, ranging from the grandstand at Royal Randwick racecourse to the soaring tower of Brookfield Place Perth, and from the Medibank Icehouse ice sports venue in Melbourne to the Queen Elizabeth II law courts in Brisbane”.

He said 83 finalists will vie for awards in 16 categories:

  • Yardi Award for Best Business or Industrial Park
  • SAS International Award for Best Office Development
  • Gough Recruitment Award for Best Residential Development
  • Redpath Partners Award for Best Shopping Centre Development
  • Ryan Lawyers Award for Best Tourism and Leisure Development
  • Award for Future Leader of the Year
  • Award for Government Leadership
  • S4B Studio Award for Best Heritage Development
  • RPS Award for Best Master Planned Community
  • Woodhead Award for Best Mixed Use Development
  • Project Control Group Award for Best Workplace Project
  • Award for Best Public Building
  • Award for Best Retirement Living Development
  • Award for Best Sustainable Development - Existing Buildings
  • WSP Award for Best Sustainable Development - New Buildings
  • Award for Innovation

All finalists, who can be viewed here, are in the running for the industry’s most coveted prize - the Australian Development of the Year Award. National award winners will be announced at the 2014 Innovation and Excellence Awards Gala Dinner, to be held in Sydney on 17 May.

Chairman of Rider Levett Bucknall (Oceania), Michael Kerr, said the awards recognise exceptional developments and professionals across the country, but also underscore the property industry’s central contribution to nation building.
