Clean Energy Week 2014 opens in Sydney
Clean Energy Week - an annual event for the renewable energy and energy efficiency industry - kicked off this morning in Sydney. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Energy at the Crossroads’.
The two-day Policy and Finance conference, being held at Doltone House, Pyrmont, opened with a plenary session from some of Australia’s key political figures, including NSW Environment Minister Rob Stokes, federal Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry Bob Baldwin and Shadow Environment Minister Mark Butler. Environment Minister Greg Hunt will speak later tonight at the event’s gala dinner, which will also feature the annual Clean Energy Council Industry Awards.
Other speakers over the course of the conference will include:
- Chief Executive of the Australian Industry Group Innes Willox
- International renewable energy expert Christine Lins from REN21
- NAB Director of Energy and Resources Ally Bonakdar
- Managing Director of Frontier Economics Danny Price
- Bloomberg New Energy Finance Australian head Kobad Bhavnagri
- National Renewable Energy Laboratory Associate Lab Director Bryan Hannegan, who was also once a climate scientist in the White House in the George W Bush Administration
- A host of CEOs and senior executives from the renewable energy industry.
Additional activities will be held over the course of the week at Sydney Showgrounds, Sydney Olympic Park, concluding on 25 July. These include a trade exhibition, the Clean Energy Council Professional Development Day, the ATRAA solar conference and the ATRAA dinner, which will incorporate the Solar Design and Installation Awards.
