Wireless meter monitoring

Halytech has released a utility meter monitoring system suitable for all industries. The system can be used with water, gas, electricity and many other types of meters.

Low-cost wireless transmitters are attached to individual meters. Multiple transmitters send their information to a single Spider SMS data logger/communications device. Transmitters can be located hundreds of metres from the data logger. The link does not rely on line of sight; communications through multiple concrete walls and floors is readily achievable.

Wireless technology simplifies and reduces installation costs. No trenches need to be dug and no fixed wiring needs to be installed. The system is equally suitable for new and existing installations, including multi-storey buildings and industrial sites.

Wireless transmitters are maintenance free and completely weatherproof. Each one is powered by an internal battery with a service life of up to 10 years.

Spider SMS is a compact, single box data logger. It includes all software, hardware and a mobile phone module (both GSM and NextG types are available). It offers many communications options for data download including browser, SMS, email, FTP and more. The system requires no additional software and no monthly service fees are payable.

Typical applications include: automatic meter reading; water audits; process control; water treatment; waste management; and irrigation.
