The Scott Proton ZM (Zero Maintenance) provides up to two years of continuous and maintenance-free protection from exposure to hydrogen sulfide (H2S) or carbon monoxide (CO).
The device does not require calibration or sensor replacement for two years (but prudent safety procedure dictates periodic challenges with CO or H2S gas). It provides a bump alert warning with a 'Test' message on the display to remind users to bump the detector with gas to verify the performance of the sensor and electronics. This procedure is quick and easy and resets the message.
The instrument also displays peak value over a 24-hour period and displays the remaining working life, providing users with constant notice of when to replace the unit.
The loud 90 dB buzzer is accompanied by a vibrating, bright red flashing alarm located at the top of the unit. It can provide up to 730 mins of alarm - the equivalent of 1 min of alarm per eight hours over the two-year life of the instrument.
Weighing only 82 g, the compact device can be worn comfortably with either a belt or alligator clip attachment, which come standard in the package.
