Drive solution for water and wastewater

The VLT Aqua Drive provides a speed control solution for water and wastewater applications. With built-in RFI and DC link harmonic filters and dedicated software functions, the drive also incorporates a three-pump cascade controller and Smart Logic Controller as standard. An eight-pump cascade/master slave controller is optional.

With auto tuning of the PI controllers, the drive monitors how the system reacts on corrections made by the drive - and learns from it, so that precise and stable operation is achieved quickly.

The controlled (closed loop) filling of pipes prevents water hammering, bursting water pipes or blown off sprinkler heads. This feature is useful in irrigation and water supply systems, etc.

The 'end of curve' function triggers an alarm and shuts off the pump, or other action, whenever a pump is running at full speed without creating the desired pressure - a situation that can arise when a pipe breaks or leakage occurs.

Sleep Mode keeps pump wear and power consumption to an absolute minimum. In low flow situations, the pump will boost the system pressure and then stop.

The drive constantly evaluates the condition of the pump, based on internal frequency/power measurements, and can be programmed to stop and protect the pump on low/no flow.

Fast acceleration of pumps to minimum speed from where the normal ramp takes over, prevents, eg, submersible borehole pumps from excessive wear and damage. the two-step final ramp prevents check valves from closing prematurely and eliminates water hammering.

Sensorless pressure or flow can is a feature that allows pump manufacturers to control the constant head (pressure) or flow levels without the use of sensors and lowers overall system cost.

Other features include: payback time indicator and a preventive maintenance schedule function.
