A software package called TrainCLIM has been released on the www.climsystems.com website. The software enables a wide range of potential users from the teachers and students to environmentalists and local governments to gain a broader understanding of the real world implications of climate change to local areas and societies.

The software-supported training package consists of a hard-wired (as opposed to an open-framework) model and supportive manuals, training modules and exercises.

For the purpose of training simulations, the models and materials are designed around fictitious places. The Halava Islands, a fictitious island nation, is used as the vehicle for driving the concepts of climate change, variability and adaptation.

Exercises can be accessed from the download page that permit the user to work through scenarios of climate change in order to rapidly gain understanding of the concepts and themes in vulnerability and adaptation assessments.

The program also includes tools that can be applied globally such as the climate and sea level scenario generators.
