World Environment Day award winners announced
The winners of this year’s United Nations Association of Australia World Environment Day Awards were announced at a gala presentation dinner held at the Grand Hyatt, Melbourne. The event was hosted by Ian Kiernan, Chairman of Clean Up Australia and Clean Up the World.
Established in 2000, the awards program is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and once again acknowledges action taken at a local level to address global environmental issues. The United Nations' theme for World Environment Day this year is ‘Your Planet Needs You! Unite to Combat Climate Change’.
Across 14 categories, awards were presented to individuals, schools, communities, governments and commercial organisations.
