Frost & Sullivan rewards environmental excellence
Frost & Sullivan held its annual Australia Excellence Awards last week at the Hilton Hotel Sydney. The 21 awards recognised companies and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding performance in the Australian market, with three of these based around environmental excellence.
Waste Management Company of the Year was awarded to SITA Australia in recognition of its investment in technology. The company’s chief information officer, Michael Salas, said SITA “continues to invest significantly in new waste management infrastructure” and the company “prides itself on putting waste to good use with smart, simple and innovative solutions that deliver for our customers”.
Through SITA’s partnership with ResourceCo, the company has given Australia’s only alternative fuels facility a $3.8 million upgrade. The SITA ResourceCo Processed Engineered Fuel (PEF) plant has boosted its output from 75,000 to in excess of 95,000 tonnes per annum and the company has plans to establish additional PEF manufacturing infrastructure across the country. The company has also embarked on a transformation program to replace its core systems with one integrated technology platform.
Integrated Facilities Management Company of the Year was meanwhile awarded to ISS Australia - a specialist in providing integrated facility services (IFS) in the healthcare, resources, aviation and education sectors, as well as working with large corporate clients as part of global facility services contracts. The company was recognised for its strong reputation as an integrated service provider and its success in contract wins and retention.
“The company’s strong presence is a result of their capability in IFS self-delivery and provision of customised service solutions based on its robust management systems,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Associate Ai Dee Yoo. “ISS leveraged its international best practices and global experience to the Australian market, resulting in holistic customer experience through value-for-money services and operational cost savings. In addition, customers were able to receive enhanced service efficiency through output-based service contracts.”
Finally, the Water Technology Company of the Year was awarded to Baleen Filters. The patented Baleen Filter provides a sophisticated yet easy-to-implement solution to effectively separate suspended matter from industrial, mining and municipal wastewaters. High-pressure, low-volume sprays remove constituents such as grit, suspended and fibrous matter, grease and oil from water, without blocking the filter, to enable smooth continuous operation.
“We are happy to host the annual awards in Australia to celebrate the achievements and hard work of Australian companies,” said Mark Dougan, managing director, Frost & Sullivan Australia & New Zealand. “By recognising their efforts, we hope that these awards encourage market players to continue to strive for greater success across industries.”
