The UTX878 flow ultrasonic transmitter combines the simplicity of a loop-powered meter installation with advanced clamp-on ultrasonic flow transmitter technology.

It provides users with an economical solution for flow measurement in pipes 15-400 mm. Loop-powered measurement provides simplicity of the installation. A single cable to the meter — that carries both power to the meter and flow information back to the control system — helps reduce wiring cost. Low-powered, ultrasonic transducer technology, coupled with smart-microprocessor power management, allows it to function as a loop-powered meter.

The ultrasonic flowmeter with Correlation Transit-Time technique for flow measurement uses a pair of transducers, with each transducer sending and receiving coded ultrasonic signals through the water. When the water is flowing, signal transit-time in the downstream direction is shorter than in the upstream direction; the difference between these transit-times is proportional to the flow velocity.

The AquaTrans UTX878 measures the time difference and uses programmed pipe parameters to determine flow rate and direction.

The UTX878 clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter will help reduce the cost of ownership by reducing the installation, operating and maintenance costs. The flowmeter can be clamped on to a pipe and within minutes accurately display flow to within 1.0% of reading.

The clamp-on feature provides: easy installation; a non-intrusive design that helps to eliminate pressure drop; and no moving parts, which helps reduce maintenance cost.

With process calibration, the UTX878 clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter can achieve a better flow measurement accuracy of 0.5% of reading. Process calibration can be done on site where the flowmeter is calibrated against a known reference — normally against a tank level or metering pump.
