A joint venture between Copa Water and Everhard Industries has seen the development of a small-sized CDS unit. The PL0506 CDS Gross Pollutant Trap, or as it has been nicknamed, 'The Nipper', is made from pre-moulded polymer. Apart from treating stormwater the design has already been proposed for a further application in the pre-treatment of grey-water for a large scale water reuse project in Melbourne.

The unit encompasses both the inline diversion system and fully pre-moulded fabrication techniques. The design allows the physical size to be minimised, while the flow of water to be treated is maximised. The smoothness and low friction coefficient of the polymer unit permits an effective increase in the flow rate, and decreases the chance of waste material being deposited in the pipe, causing blockages in front of the device.

The unit has been developed for any application up to and including 375 mm pipe and is suitable for car parks, washdown bays and for pre-detention.

It is delivered as a completed unit ready to install. Due to the lightweight polymer construction, the Nipper is able to be supplied in a single piece, and thereby minimises plumbing work required on site.

The unit is easy to keep clean, only requiring a suction truck to clean out the collected rubbish when necessary, and with no moving parts there is no chance of the unit breaking down and needing repair.
