Australian Pump Industries has developed a complete range of hydrostatic test equipment designed for testing underground and surface-mounted pipelines.

The company developed a range of 20-40 bar test units that embody a number of major features that make hydrostatic testing easy. The base machines operate in with flows of 40 to 150 L/min and are suitable for domestic water lines and factory systems.

The testers consist of high-pressure diaphragm pumps that are easy to service and maintain. The machines feature a double-gauge and double-valve system that enables the pressure to be locked off in the line after pressurisation.

The testers are equipped with a pressure regulation system that is infinitely variable, enabling the operator to set the pressure at the desired rating. After the operator locks off the valve, and a mandatory period of static test, the operator can see whether there is a problem or not.

Bigger machines designed for high-pressure systems in the oil and gas industry are also manufactured by the company. The range is available in petrol, diesel or electric configuration with machines up to 80 hp being mounted in heavy-duty galvanised trollies that suit remote site conditions.

The machines are built tough, with simple instructions and safety features incorporated. All of the high-pressure machines, ie, those in the 100 to 500 bar category, come with safety valves that protect both the machine and operator in the event of an accidental pressure spike.

The range of highly portable hydrostatic testers means that testing can be done on-site with either a petrol or diesel engine drive unit.
