Aquaread Aqua Plus optical dissolved oxygen system

Monday, 02 August, 2010 | Supplied by: Thermo Fisher Scientific

The Aqua Plus from Aquaread is an optical dissolved oxygen system that measures salinity directly.

To accurately calculate the DO content in a sample of water, it is essential to know the temperature and salinity of the sample as well as the atmospheric pressure. The Aqua Plus meter includes all sensors necessary for this calculation: a precision barometric pressure sensor; an optical DO sensor; a precision temperature sensor; and an electrical conductivity (EC) sensor. From measurements taken by the EC sensor, the salinity of the sample can be accurately determined.

Optical DO technology eliminates the problems of Clarke electrodes such as membrane fouling, calibration instability and oxygen consumption. Optical technology enables high-precision, membrane-free, long-term stability along with infrequent calibration and immunity to fouling by sulfides and other gases.

The meter also differs from other portable DO meters through the features of GPS and data logging. Up to 2000 sets of readings tagged with time, date and position can be taken, then downloaded and exported to spreadsheets as well as Google Maps, where the readings can be overlaid on either maps or satellite photos.
