Creative Water Technology has launched an innovative technology that allows highly contaminated wastewater to be cleaned. The technology was recently recognised by winning Innovic’s International Next Big Thing Award 2009 - Green/Environmental category.
Purpose built for prescribed waste, it cleans water with over 300,000 ppm TDS; 80,000 mg/L COD, 50,000 mg/L BOD; oils, emulsions, colours, metals, brine and many chemicals. Alternative disposal options can be many times more expensive than Creative Water.
The process delivers high-quality water and presents extracted contaminants as dry waste. Soluble and insoluble contaminants are presented separately creating opportunities for sale or re-use. Operating without filters, membranes, vacuums, pressures or high temperatures, it is a simple, robust, low-maintenance appliance that can deliver a good return on investment.
Using the first principles of physics, the patented process recycles and re-uses thermal energy in a distillation process to create a Zero Liquid Discharge technology. Wastewater is converted to clean water and dry solids.
The technology has been used successfully in field trials at an Australian aluminium smelter and a food waste treatment plant in Singapore; and has been externally validated by multinational engineering companies and the Australian Sustainable Industries Research Centre (ASIRC).
The company reports strong interest from Australian and international markets in China, India, Africa, USA and the Middle East. Initial applications in metal recycling, galvanising and organic waste processing are expected to be followed by large-scale mining applications.
