ItN Nanovation CFM Systems for biological wastewater purification

Thursday, 14 January, 2010 | Supplied by: Reaman Industries Ltd

CFM Systems is a ceramic flat membrane system for biological wastewater purification. Suitable for submerged filtration processes, the ItN Nanovation product is now being introduced to the New Zealand water and wastewater industry. It should be available early 2010 for demonstrations and pilot trials.

The membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology used on the system has an expected working life cycle of 15 to 20 years. The entire ceramic body is produced in one firing step and provides a stable compound with reliable materials. The ceramic plates form the heart of the robust MBR filter provide good resistance against mechanical and chemical stresses. The membrane plates are so robust that in the unlikely event of a manual clean, the plates can be cleaned with a high-pressure water blaster using hot or cold water.

The system is claimed to significantly lower the cost per cubic metre of treated wastewater compared to other technologies. Applications include: high-strength wastewater; municipal/domestic wastewater treatment; greywater; ground and surface water; and effluent pond filtration; pre-treatment for RO system.
