Increased payload for waste trucks
Containers made from Hardox wear plate
One of Germany’s largest waste disposal firms is receiving a new generation of trucks with 20% more payload thanks to containers made of Hardox wear plate from SSAB.
The waste disposal trucks were delivered to SITA Deutschland on 16 December in Hassfurt, Germany. Also present were the representatives of the companies responsible for manufacturing the trucks - Becker Machine Construction GmbH, Containerbau Hameln, SSAB, Meiller and Atlas.
Hardox was chosen by Containerbau Hameln, which produced the containers for the trucks. The sides of the containers of the new trucks were made with Hardox 3.2 mm and the floors with Hardox 4 mm.
According to a Containerbau Hameln representative, through the installation of the thin Hardox plates the containers are a tonne lighter in comparison to containers made from conventional steel, and they can hold at least two tonnes more.
