Sugar waste is fertile ground for value-adding
Monday, 05 November, 2007
CSR Ethanol Agservices has received the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) Value-Adding Award at the 2007 NAB Agribusiness Awards for Excellence Ceremony.
Presenting the award, RIRDC Director John Lawrenson said that CSR Ethanol Agservices has developed an innovative service, which both reduces waste and benefits a rural production system.
The company converts biologically rich waste products from ethanol fermentation of sugar into an effective and economical fertiliser. The company also delivers and applies fertiliser products for users, saving farmers time, effort and cost.
The service, coupled with the product, has made the company a market leader among local cane growers, and they are moving into supplying fertiliser for other production systems, like cotton and tomatoes.
