Healthy Cities conference in Brisbane
The 2010 Healthy Cities conference will be held at Stamford Plaza, Brisbane, on 12 and 13 July.
It will be a platform for government and industry sector professionals to discuss causes, effects and solutions that relate to population health, sustainability, natural resource management, transport, climate change and urban design. The conference will examine the prerequisites for a ‘Healthy City’.
This year’s conference will be held over two days, with optional tours being conducted on 14 July 2010.
The conference will feature over 70 speakers including keynote presentations along with three concurrent streams, designed to address the following themes: managing population and economic growth; climate change adaptation; managing communicable disease outbreaks - health security; population health management - immunisation, biosecurity, food safety and epidemic control; waste re-use technologies; city design - designing changes to urban life to encourage physical activity, healthy cities; disaster management - public welfare - recovery and rebuild; managing legislation and policy; natural resource management; green cities and technology; renewable energy; and community engagement and planning.
Confirmed keynote presenters will include The Honourable John Mickel MP; Director-General John Bradley; Professor Mike Daube; Caroline Stalker; Kerry Doss; Councillor Krista Adams; Mike Ritchie; and Gilbert Rochecouste.
