The worldwide Royal Haskoning DeltaCompetition has started. Students with innovative ideas and creative solutions for adapting the delta regions of the world to climate change impacts have until 1 April 2008 to register their interest in this international competition.

The student teams will then have until August to submit the papers. The best individual paper will receive a prize of 5000 euros and the best team paper will receive 10,000 euros.

The organisation hopes that this year even more international students will think about solutions for delta areas that will experience the consequences of climate change in the future. Solutions can relate to such things as forecast models, water management, agriculture and nature, spatial development, technology, infrastructure, housing, policy, management and economics.

Papers must be original, have a scientific basis, and be realistic and practicable. The competition is open to Bachelor students, Masters and PhDs from all over the world. Individual students and multi-disciplinary student teams can register their interest until 1 April via the dedicated website: www.deltacompetition.com. Individuals and teams then have until August to submit their papers. The best papers will be compiled and published.
