Containerised data centre

The Datapod system is a containerised data centre solution that provides flexibility in the IT environment. Consisting of preconfigured, modular, data centre building blocks, the system is scalable and can be deployed rapidly to meet the growing demands for increased data centre capacity.

Unlike other containerised solutions, the Datapod system includes critical site infrastructure such as modular generators and chillers to deliver a complete containerised infrastructure solution for data centres. The core of the system comprises APC’s InfraStruXure data centre architecture and APC’s energy-efficient Hot Aisle Containment System and InRow Cooling solutions.

The solution features highly insulated walls and high-tech LED lighting to further optimise power efficiency. It also uses closed water loop ‘dry’ radiators rather than evaporative ‘wet’ cooling towers to eliminate water consumption.

The system is designed to withstand extreme outside temperatures and lightning strikes, as well as the ingress of moisture, dirt and dust. Also featuring antistatic flooring to protect sensitive electronics, the system allows companies to set up a temporary facility in any outdoor environment.

Full power and cooling redundancy can be provided with the addition of one or more Utilitypods. This means that even maximum data security required by Tier 4 installations can be achieved with a Datapod installation.

On the outside, the modules are based on the rugged design and dimensions of an easily transportable, standardised 20″ shipping container. The difference is on the inside, where all materials and finishes have been carefully selected to provide an optimum IT environment.
