The inaugural Renewable Cities Forum is coming in 2016
Exhibition and Trade Fairs has announced the inaugural Renewable Cities Forum 2016 — a two-day forum for local government and industry to showcase and share the plans, achievements and challenges of Australian cities moving to renewable and innovative energy systems for electricity and public transport.
“Planning for the transition to new and smarter energy systems is an important step for each urban area, and this forum opens the space for learning and sharing between the cities and towns of Australia,” said Mary Hendriks, program manager of the forum.
To be held at Australian Technology Park from 1–2 June 2016, the event will be co-located with the Australian Energy Storage Conference & Exhibition. This will enable delegates to view emerging technologies and low-carbon transport options that will change the energy landscape of Australian cities.
Presentations and discussions will also be held, with topics including: planning for 100% renewable cities; generating power in the urban environment; designing precincts and buildings for sharing the power; and trends and barriers in electrifying transportation.
Hendriks invite all mayors, council CEOs, senior managers, policymakers, town planners and those directly involved in planning the energy future of our cities to save the date for the missed forum.
“Future leaders are also welcome, with one session dedicated to connecting young LGA leaders from across Australia,” she said.
