Sustainability reporting training

Sustainability reporting training is set to become more accessible to organisations around Australia and New Zealand as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) announces sustainability consultancy ZOOiD as a certified training partner for the region.

“Sustainability reporting is fast gaining momentum around Australia. Organisations of all kinds are seeing the value in reporting their environmental, social and economic performance as a way of increasing transparency and also as a way to regularly monitor and improve how they do business,” said Marian Gruber, ZOOiD Director.

“An ideal outcome for organisations who prepare sustainability reports is that important information, previously buried somewhere in the organisation, will come to light and plans can be made to improve operational efficiencies. Knowing the reality of their day-to-day environmental and social impacts can be surprising, while improving aspects of their business operations can also be financially rewarding,” said Gruber.

A 2008 study by strategic management consultancy A T Kearney showed that during the current economic climate, companies that show a true commitment to sustainability tend to financially outperform their peers.

The workshops are planned for January and February 2010, with initial workshops being held in Melbourne. The two Global Reporting Initiative workshops being run are: GRI Sustainability Reporting Process and GRI Sustainability Reporting for SMEs (First timers - C level application).
