Photographers called to enter savewater! competition
Recognising imagery as an important tool in raising awareness of the need for water conservation, the 2011 savewater! awards are calling for budding photographers to share their photographs.
The 2011 savewater! photographer award is designed to recognise creative talent with imagery supporting the importance of water and conserving it for the future. There are three awards in this category: Junior Student (up to 12 years old), Senior Student (13- to 17-year-olds) and Open.
Prizes on offer include digital cameras and iPod shuffles, with selected images to be used in international water conservation campaigns.
“The savewater! awards are a wonderful forum in which photographers can be recognised for their artistry, as well as spreading the message about water conservation, efficiency and water as a precious resource,” says Nigel Finney, CEO of the savewater! Alliance.
The savewater! awards, now in their ninth year, are Australia’s leading awards program in water sustainability. The awards aim to recognise and reward excellence in water conservation and efficiency by business, schools, government, local communities and individuals.
“I encourage photographers from around the globe to enter the savewater! awards. You may be surprised at the impact of your work and who it can inspire, so why not give it a go?” says Finney.
Entries for the 2011 savewater! awards close at 5 pm (AEST) on Monday 8 August 2011.
Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony to be held in Melbourne in November.
