GE Energy names John Anderson as Senior Regional Executive for ANZ and PNG

Wednesday, 04 April, 2012

GE Energy yesterday announced the appointment of John Anderson as Senior Regional Executive for Australia, New Zealand (ANZ) and Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Anderson will play a key part in driving growth for GE Energy by localising global offerings to help customers address some of their biggest energy challenges. This will help GE meet overall growth targets in the region, which are forecast to drive 20-25% of global revenues.

In 2011, GE’s industrial revenues (excluding GE Capital) in ANZ grew by 67%. GE Energy has helped to drive this through a number of wins and developments, including:

  • A US$150 million contract from Apache to supply subsea equipment for the Julimar Development Project, located offshore in Western Australia.
  • Contracts totalling more than $1 billion to supply a wide range of equipment and services for the Ichthys LNG project.
  • Involvement in all of the major LNG projects and other resources projects spanning from WA to Qld including Shell Prelude, Gorgon and Wheatstone projects.
  • Work with Fortescue Metals Group to supply gas turbines for the Solomon plant in Western Australia as part of Fortescue’s US$8.4 billion expansion in the iron-rich Pilbara region.
  • A consortium contract win to build GE’s first wind farm in Australia for Verve Energy.
  • Contracts with QGC to provide power generation and water equipment.

“This is an unprecedented period of growth in our region that requires efficient extraction and preparation of energy supplies for both domestic and international consumption,” said Steve Sargent, President and CEO GE Australia, New Zealand and PNG.

“In Australia, GE’s Energy business has a critical role to play in helping our customers deliver on their customer demands for energy sources, whether that’s in oil and gas, renewable energy, power and water in remote areas or energy management.

“Along with growth, the energy industry is also transforming at an incredible pace and requires strong local leadership to bring our decision-making capability and service closer to the customer in-country.

“John brings a strong strategic focus to GE’s Energy operations and has the skills and vision to help us realise an even stronger future for GE Energy in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.”

Prior to joining GE Energy, Anderson spent 25 years at BP, where he progressed from production and business development roles to leadership roles in the UK and US spanning supply chain, commercial, business development and strategic planning.
