Former Deloitte partner launches climate reporting consultancy
After more than a decade as a Partner at Deloitte, Thierry Lotrian is leaving the firm to launch his new consultancy, Climate & Decisions, which will help organisations navigate climate-related financial disclosures and sustainability reporting.
The move is a strategic one, coming at a time when the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) are about to take effect on 1 January 2025 — meaning over 6000 large businesses and financial institutions will face mounting pressure to ensure compliance while managing extensive climate-related data. Lotrian said Climate & Decisions will fill this market gap by providing data-driven solutions that seamlessly integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles into core business strategies.
“The upcoming mandatory climate reporting presents significant data and compliance challenges for businesses,” Lotrian said.
“Organisations must begin their preparations now to meet stringent requirements for financial-grade, auditable data. At Climate & Decisions, we aim to empower businesses to view sustainability not just as a compliance obligation but as a strategic advantage.”
Climate & Decisions is partnering with online talent platform Outsized to access a curated network of independent consultants and industry experts. This flexible approach is designed for the rapid deployment of specialised talent to meet each client’s unique challenges. In contrast to traditional consulting firms, which often struggle with complexity and internal silos, Climate & Decisions says it offers a streamlined and efficient solution that adapts to the evolving demands of climate compliance.
Lotrian brings expertise from his previous leadership roles at major consulting firms, having headed up Deloitte’s Climate & Sustainability alliance program and its Data and AI initiatives.
“By combining deep sustainability expertise with advanced data capabilities, we not only help businesses meet regulatory requirements but also position them for long-term success in a low-carbon economy,” Lotrian said.
