Clean solutions for Asian cities at the CleanEnviro Summit Singapore
The inaugural CleanEnviro Summit Singapore (CESS) is a global platform for government leaders, policymakers, regulators and industry captains to connect, examine and discover practical solutions to address environmental challenges for tomorrow’s cities. The summit, which is supported by key international organisations like The World Bank and UNEP, will take place from 1-4 July at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
In the face of global urbanisation and climate challenges, the CESS 2012 theme ‘Innovative Clean Enviro-Solutions for Asia’s Growing Cities’ provides a platform for the sharing of insights on the latest environmental policy thinking, market trends and technological innovations through the following components:
- Clean Environment Leaders Summit
- Clean Environment Regulators Roundtable
- WasteMET Asia
To be held in conjunction with the World Cities Summit and Singapore International Water Week, the three events will provide an integrated global platform for government leaders and industry experts to share sustainable urban development solutions, including the latest innovations in water, urban management and environmental technologies.
Clean Environment Leaders Summit (2 July)
This high-level dialogue explores how policies and strategies, as part of a comprehensive and integrated approach to urban planning, would promote the clean environment outcomes and stimulate green growth by engaging the various stakeholders in planning, implementing effective legislative frameworks and application of technological solutions. The first plenary session will explore the challenges of growing waste volumes, water scarcity and dwindling energy sources as economies develop and urbanise, while the second session will focus on the instruments to drive technological innovation and deployment.
Clean Environment Regulators Roundtable (3 July)
Co-organised with the World Bank, the Clean Environment Regulators Roundtable provides a platform for policymakers and regulators to share environmental regulatory experience and best practices on sustaining a clean environment. Participants are encouraged to discuss the challenges faced in dealing with environmental pollution and waste management issues. Participation is by invitation only.
WasteMET Asia
Jointly organised by NEA and the Waste Management and Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS), and partnered by ISWA, WasteMET Asia 2012 is dedicated to practitioners in the waste management and recycling industries to keep abreast of the latest developments in solid waste management solutions and environmental technologies.
