Aucklanders to get a bite-sized taste of business sustainability insights

Thursday, 25 October, 2012

Auckland companies can get a sustainability edge at the ‘business only’ afternoon of the Sustainable City Showcase at The Cloud on Queens Wharf on 22 November.

Ten expert-led Business Power Sessions will provide friendly 30-minute opportunities for businesses to upskill on sustainability as it applies to financial, social, human and environmental aspects of business life.

Companies can send their executives to one or more of the sessions between 12.30 and 4 pm and take away knowledge that will inform their response to sustainability’s growing influence on business today as conscious consumerism impacts on all our activities.

Topics for the sessions include green marketing and communications, retrofitting and energy efficiency, sustainability reporting, building a sustainable business and the value of green office spaces.

The Business Power Sessions are one element of the business engagement day that kicks off the three-day Sustainable City Showcase. The showcase, which is organised by the Sustainable Business Network (SBN) and supported by Waterfront Auckland, Principal Partner Meridian Energy and Presenting Partner Green Ideas magazine, is open to the public and entry is free.

The CEO of the SBN, Rachel Brown, says that the business sessions are designed to provide “tailored power briefings” to key influencers within the business community.

“We are expecting that the power sessions will appeal to CEOs, CFOs and key influencers in business, but the sessions are open to anyone who is keen to benefit from the experience of some of New Zealand’s leading business sustainability experts,” said Brown.
