APAC Greenhouse Accelerator Program finalists announced
The 10 start-up finalists for PepsiCo’s APAC Greenhouse Accelerator Program Sustainability Edition have been announced, with Australian technology startup Adiona selected to participate in the accelerator program. The program represents a step in PepsiCo’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in the region.
In March 2023, PepsiCo launched a call to startups across the Asia–Pacific region, seeking solutions for sustainable packaging and climate reduction. The finalists have been selected by a committee of leaders within PepsiCo based on their ability to deliver innovative solutions that effectively mitigate climate impact.
The finalists from the ANZ region are:
- Adiona (Australia), which has developed technology allowing transporters to adopt electric vehicles faster by identifying opportunities for electrification and creating simulations and network designs for more sustainable delivery methods.
- Turn Systems Corporation (New Zealand), which uses smart technology to get rid of single-use plastics.
-
Aspiring Materials (New Zealand), which plans to shift the packaging, construction and agriculture industries to use carbon-free rocks.
Brent Gapes, PepsiCo National EHS & Sustainability Manager, Australia & New Zealand, said the Australian and New Zealand startups aligned with the pep+ vision of creating a more resilient and environmentally conscious future. PepsiCo will collaborate with the startups to drive sustainable outcomes in the region.
All the startups will receive support during a four-month business optimisation program, including US$20,000 (AU$29,000) in grants, personalised mentorship from experts across different function areas within PepsiCo and access to their expertise.
“We’re delighted to have been selected as a finalist in the PepsiCo APAC Greenhouse Accelerator Program Sustainability Edition. The support that PepsiCo will provide financially, through mentorship and via their business optimisation support will undoubtedly assist us in accelerating our growth to support our mission of fuelling faster EV adoption across global supply chains,” said Richard Savoie, CEO, Adiona.
At the end of the program, one standout startup will be awarded an additional US$100,000 (AU$147,000) and the opportunity to continue partnering with PepsiCo.
Wern Yuen Tan, PepsiCo CEO, APAC, said the company’s collaboration with the 10 startup finalists in the program is a pivotal moment in the company’s sustainability journey, helping to redefine industry norms.
PepsiCo believes the startups’ innovative solutions will be critical in advancing the circular economy and reducing environmental impact in the APAC region and beyond.
