Power Saver is a fluorescent lighting control unit that manages power to improve lighting and energy efficiency, claiming to save up to 30% of the operating costs of fluorescent lighting power, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The unit is designed to enable existing buildings and tenancies to become more energy efficient without the need for lighting upgrades.
When installed in T8/T12 fluorescent lighting circuits, with reliable high-performance magnetic ballasts (including older discontinued EEI C/D Class models), the unit is claimed to save more energy than comparable T8 fluorescent lighting circuits fitted with electronic ballasts and as much as T5 fittings.
The unit is a type of reduction voltage system available in two standard formats to suit various requirements - a single-phase 10 kVA model that covers the installation of up to 210 (36 W) fluorescent tubes per unit; and a single-phase 5 kVA model to cover 105 (36 W) fluorescent tubes per unit.
In each case, the units are integrated directly into existing lighting power circuits at or near the switchboard. It is not a lighting dimming device, but rather, is considered an 'appliance' and does not normally require any special approval prior to installation.
