Yingli Solar passes Positive Quality Program
Yingli Solar has been announced as the first solar PV module manufacturer to successfully pass the Australian Solar Council’s Positive Quality inspection program.
The program was announced in May this year in order to help distinguish between high- and low-quality solar panels. Australian Solar Council Chief Executive John Grimes noted that “while all solar panels look the same they do not perform the same, and that difference in performance could cost a customer tens of thousands of dollars over the life of the system”.
Specialists from the Australian Solar Council’s Positive Quality Program have conducted independent inspection and testing of Yingli Solar’s entire manufacturing process before sending the company’s solar panels to the Australian market. Grimes said the council was “impressed by the high level of manufacturing excellence demonstrated by Yingli Solar”.
Daman Cole, the managing director of Yingli Green Energy Australia, said the independent audit “provides a level of visibility and assurance to installers and customers that they are purchasing a premium product which has been independently inspected to verify our manufacturing claims”.
Cole said Yingli Solar is “delighted to be the founding member of the Australian Solar Council’s Positive Quality Program and the first manufacturer to receive the Positive Quality certification”. The council meanwhile looks forward to announcing more successful Positive Quality manufacturers from those who have signed on to the program.
