Funds available to help NSW manufacturers save energy

The NSW Government is offering over $16 million in funding to help manufacturing businesses save energy and money. Any GST-registered business with a manufacturing site in NSW can apply provided it undertakes manufacturing activities (according to the Manufacturing Division of ANZSIC 2006) or cotton ginning.

Funds can be used to upgrade energy monitoring systems; replace or retrofit old, inefficient equipment; install new energy-efficient equipment; and improve manufacturing processes. Successful applications will receive up to $120,000 in matched funding per site to implement a project that saves gas or electricity.

Funding will be streamed via the following offers:

  • Offer 1: Metering and process optimisation — for energy monitoring system installation or upgrades to improve control of machinery and manufacturing processes to save energy.
  • Offer 2a: Simple energy efficiency upgrades — for replacement or retrofit technologies such as economisers on boilers and variable speed drives.
  • Offer 2b: Measured and verified energy efficiency upgrades such as heat recovery and boiler upgrades.

The first funding round opened on 22 February and is closing on 30 June 2019.

Briefing sessions will be held across metropolitan and regional NSW in March and April 2019. A webinar is available.
