Climate Neutral Now gains first Australian signatory
Carbon accounting consultancy Conversio has become the first Australian company to sign the pledge to join the Climate Neutral Now initiative, led by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) secretariat.
The pledge represents a growing movement of companies and governments taking the lead on reducing emissions and accelerating the global journey to a climate-neutral future. Organisations that take the pledge commit to:
- Measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions for an agreed-upon period of time.
- Reduce their greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible.
- Offset remaining emissions.
Acting in accordance with its mission to support clients to integrate environmental sustainability into their business, Conversio has joined Climate Neutral Now to inspire global climate action. Specifically, the company has measured, reduced, reported and offset its greenhouse gas emissions for the 2015–16 financial year.
“By supporting this initiative, we wish to join the conversation on the strategic challenges that climate change poses for business and showcase opportunities to address greenhouse gas emissions,” said Alexander Stathakis, director and founder of Conversio. “We stand ready to support all types of organisations who wish to move their business forward by addressing their environmental impact and helping them gain recognition for their effort.”
