Australians will be the first to purchase the Enphase AC Battery
Australia will be the first country in the world to have the chance to purchase the Enphase AC Battery when it becomes commercially available in 2016. The battery’s release will enable Enphase to complete its Energy Management System, a product that will allow customers to generate, store, control and manage solar energy on a single platform.
The Enphase AC Battery is an energy storage solution with a modular, plug-and-play storage unit that is fully integrated into the Enphase Energy Management System. The modular battery provides system owners with the ability to store solar energy for use at night or in the future.
The news was announced in Sydney yesterday at the conference ‘Disruption & the Energy Industry’ by Nathan Dunn, managing director for Enphase Asia-Pacific. Dunn said the company sees “tremendous potential for the AC Battery in Australia”.
“Australia has always been a strategic market for Enphase,” explained Dunn, noting the strong growth and demand for the company’s microinverter systems over the past two years. In the first two quarters of 2015, Enphase climbed to an estimated 8% market share in Australia.
Japanese battery manufacturer ELIIY Power will be the chemistry provider for the first Enphase AC Batteries when they are released in Australia. Existing Australian Enphase customers will be given the opportunity to register their interest in the battery ahead of general availability.
