Impact: a changing land
Thursday, 26 July, 2007
Impact: a changing land is a free exhibition at the State Library of NSW, 3 November 2007 - 24 February 2008. The exhibition exposes the controversial history of both harm and affection for the environment since the disappearance of the Norfolk Island Mount Pitt bird over 200 years ago.
The exhibition focuses on four contentious geographic locations - greater Sydney, NSW coasts, Macquarie Island and the Murray Darling Basin - to highlight the critical impacts of European settlement. The environmental histories of drought, whaling, land clearing, exotic pests (eg, rabbits) and air pollution are re-told using the original sources selected from State Library of NSW's unrivalled collections.
The exhibition features the work and attitudes of environmental custodians. For more information, visit www.sl.nsw.gov.au.
