Third-generation photoionisation detector (PID)-based instruments, the MiniRAE 3000 and ppbRAE 3000 are suitable for applications in industrial settings, environmental monitoring, indoor air quality and hazardous materials response applications. The products are intended for use where hydrocarbon-based chemicals pose a toxic threat. They can be used for both leak detection and industrial safety. The instruments both have intrinsic safety certifications for use in hazardous environments in the US and Canada.

The MiniRAE 3000 has an extended measurement range of 0.1 ppm to 15,000 ppm. The ppbRAE 3000 offers an extended measurement range of 1 ppb to 10,000 ppm.

Both products feature a large backlit graphical display with graphical charting capability and easy viewing in any light condition. Both also feature a built-in flashlight for operation in extremely dim environments. The products include over 200 built-in correction factors for accurately measuring a wide range of chemicals. No tools are required to field service the PID lamp or sensor or to replace batteries. Both instruments have optional charging cradles with a USB interface for downloading up to six months of data to a computer for either analysis or record keeping.

For wireless data downloading, an optional Bluetooth interface is available. A wireless modem with a 150 m range, compatible with the AreaRAE wireless sensor networks, will also be available. The instruments will be AutoRAE-compatible for fast calibration and bump testing. Both also include a user interface configurable in 12 languages.
